T/T VS C/T part 1

At previous we have already learn the basic knowledge about TACT TIME and CYCLE TIME.

Now we will discuss further about how to use T/T and C/T  to analyze production line performance

at first , we must have present Cycle Time data of our production line. For example :   Total Cycle time of molding process               C/T  = 25 sec/pc

Time available per day  for example  =  7 hrs per day

Customer order ,for example 2000 pcs/day,  its mean T/T = 12.6 sec/pc

From above data C/T and T/T , what we can conclude about our molding production line ?    base on C/T data above, can we meet customer order ?

The answer is : WE CAN MEET CUSTOMER ORDER 200 pcs product per DAY

Because….. our molding capacity need 25 second to produce 1 piece product. Mean while base on customer order, we must produce 12.6 second for 1 piece product.  it mean, our molding capacity only 50% than customer order.

If we find condition like above sample, we must immediately  take action.  The action plan for example :

we must do improvement in our molding process in order that we can reduce cycle time become same with Tact Time

detail improvement plan will be discussed at next posting
